2010 Season of Lent
We invite everyone to LUMC's Lenten Experience for five Wednesday nights during Lent beginning February 24. Each evening will start at 5:30 p.m. with a community meal in Grant Fellowship Hall. At 6:00 p.m. a variety of Lenten Experiences for children, youth, and adults, will be offered. Each "experience" is designed for introspection, mission, and meditation. (February 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24)
Adults have a choice of two options for 2010 Lenten Study:
First, a series called "Studying the Trinity with our Forefathers," led by David Haysley. The goal of this four-week workshop is to discover how is God three persons in one. This workshop is based on the book, The Case for God, by Karen Armstrong. Second, a series called "Emancipating Teenagers - A New Stage of Development for Parents", led by Glen Gravelle and Steve & Lorna Jamieson.
Lenten Series for Youth & Children
Our Youth and Children will have special Wednesday Lenten Series experiences designed just for them. LUMC's Children's Ministry will lead our last Wednesday Night Lenten Experience on March 24 with a special presentation called "Harriet's Easter Hunt."
Ash Wednesday
February 17 @ 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Lent is the season of the church year during which we turn to the study of Christ's life of sacrifice and reflect upon our own lives. We invite you to begin your Lenten journey by worshiping with us at our Ash Wednesday service. This solemn service will feature the use of ashes. The ashes are a symbol of repentance and mortality. Child care is available.
Community Concert
Friday, March 26 @ 7:30 p.m.
The Littleton Symphony Orchestra will perform songs inspired by the Greatness of America. The orchestra will perform with pianist David Korevaar. (Tickets $8-$12; under 22 free; discount and group rate tickets available in advance at 303.933.6824.
April 28 @ 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Join us Palm Sunday for a dramatic portrayal of the events of Holy Week, beginning with a celebratory procession of palms by our children and youth.
Maundy Thursday
April 1 @7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary
The Chancel Choir and Colorado Chamber Orchestra perform meditations on the Seven Last Words of Christ during a solemn Maundy Thursday Communion Service.
Children's Easter Festival
April 3 @ 10:00 a.m. throughout LUMC
The Easter Egg Festival is for children of all ages and will be the morning of April 3. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. for one hour of fun-filled crafts, egg coloring, face painting, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The egg hunt will commence promptly at 11:00 a.m.
April 4 @ 6:30, 8:30, & 11:00 a.m.
Join us for LUMC's Easter Sunrise Service in the Gallup Rose Garden at 6:30 a.m. The Sunrise Service meditation will be given by Terry Ostermiller, and lead by CrossFire and members of LUMC's Youth Group. A pancake breakfast in Grant Fellowship Hall, sponsored by Scout Troop #114 will follow the Easter Sunrise Service. The 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services will triumphantly celebrate our risen Lord! Easter hymns, music by our Chancel Choir, and an inspiring meditation by Richard Hendry will help proclaim victory over death of the the risen Saviour. Come proclaim that "Christ is risen! Hallelujah!"
