LUMC is dedicated to the ongoing spiritual development and exploration f our congregation. To that end, we're pleased to offer classes and learning opportunities beyond Sunday sermons.
Next Class: Preparing for the Election
Consider the role our faith plays in our political decisions. How does faith inform our democratic engagement? Is it even appropriate to ask how Jesus would engage in political matters? We'll discuss this and more at Preparing for the Election, a six-week class designed to help you center your faith when completing your ballot.
These classes are open to everyone regardless of political views or affiliation. We hope you'll join us in this nonpartisan effort in our purple community to build the "Kindom" of God.

Topic: A two-part session that will focus on undocumented Immigrants, asylum seekers, and the impact of a policy of mass deportations and restrictions on immigrants and on our country.

October 4th from 10:00-10:50 a.m.
Topic: Should Christians prioritize individual sanctity or love for neighbor? How does our answer to this question shape how we live out our faith? Should politicians decide for us? Com discuss with Rob McNutt.
Class 4: Nonpartisan Ballot Issues Forum with the League of Women Voters, Part 1
October 11th from 10:00-10:50 a.m.
Topic: In this two-part session, a representative of the League of Women Voters will go through the ballot with us so we are well prepared to vote on all the issues on this very long ballot.

Class 6: Looking at our Election through the Lens of our Faith

Topic: How should our faith inform our political engagement? What unites us as United Methodists? How can we support the democratic process this election season?

The After Party
With the After Party, you’ll be equipped and encouraged to do the hard work of engaging across differences, reframing your political identity in light of the Gospel’s promises, and focusing your heart and mind on the “how” of relating to each other before the “what” of political opinions. We'll go through the course together so we can share in conversation and foster our own relationships through creation of a brave space. Hosted by Rev. Chris Carr in October 2025.
